Do you want to see her often? Do you enjoy spending time with her? We make multiple trips a year to a couple of places 4-5 hours away just because we love spending time with those frinds/ family members and spending a weekend with them is worth the long drive for us. If my mother lived 2 hours away I'd be there often. Since its too much for you then I think you should evaluate the reasons.

This isn't even a tiny problem but rather you acting like an entitled,spoiled jerk. It is your mother. She may not be well or, as you will one day find out, growing old ain't for sissies.

Also team OP. We have two small children, a house, two FT jobs, and no outside help other than daycare. My parents live 2 hours away via I95...so, of course, that can double the drive time. Pre-pandemic, we were down there maybe 4 or 5 times a year for weekend visits. Since they are retired with no other obligations and no other family, they visited us far more frequently.

Team OP. To me, a 2 hour drive is a lot to ask. Especially if your kids get carsick or have weekend activities. There are weeks I need some downtime on the weekend to relax and catch up with household tasks. I have no idea how people own weekend homes hours away. It seems like torture to me. Good for them, but everyone is different.

Op, I see my parents a few times a year. And that involves them visiting at least half of the time.

Road runs both ways. Ask her when she plans to visit.

Unless you are going for the entire weekend, 2 hours is a long drive. My family would probably make this trip once every few months or so.
