That’s the ultimate sign of disrespect for French people. There’s an expectation that you should always, out of respect, ask a French person (in French) if they speak English before you launch into it. No wonder most of the characters hated her!

I was impressed they had a black person as one of her office mates. Yes, France is very multi-cultural but that doesn't play into the stereotypes. The other scenes (like at parties and fashion shows), and nearly everyone was white so I guess that made up for it that way.
