Gender reveal videos, parties, announcements, etc. are low class and tacky.

the first gender reveal was just pink/blue icing inside a cake done by a blogger about 15 years ago. With the latest controversy, Someone called her out on social media saying “you started this!!” She spoke out against GR saying It was just a cute idea at the time, and she never expected it to get “blown” up like this. Ironically enough, she said that first baby revealed back then now identifies as LGBTQ; reinforcing that the reveal is the SEX of the child, not the gender. And just sets the kid up for a lot of gender-conforming stereotypes (e.g., that penis=male-identifying) before they are even born. You don’t really know the gender until much later.
Will look for the video of the interview I saw (think it was Daily Show) and post if I find it.

We then went to Nordstorms and picked a boy outfit and girl outfit and handed the clerk our credit card and asked them to pick the outfit to match whatever was in the envelope. We then went to dinner by ourselves and opened the gift wrapped packaged. It was a nice suprise and a fun way to pick out the first outfit.
Anonymous wrote:Gender reveal parties sound like a marketers way to suck more cash up for gifts. The only people who care about the sex of someone’s damn child are the parents and maybe the grandparents. The rest of us don’t care except that we want you to have a healthy baby.
Anonymous wrote:Wait people have a actual separate party JUST to reveal the gender?!?!? I've never actually been to one, but I have been to showers where there was a gender reveal. I assumed they all worked that way.

NP that's what most couples do who don't find out during the ultrasound. Something private with their partner.
My issue with gender reveals is how FAKE they are. Most of the time the mom and dad already know.

Maybe she'll be mommy's little cheerleader and wear pink and be sweet, but maybe she'll be an athlete and scientist who loves football. And maybe daddy's little linebacker will love ballet. Ultimately maybe your kids gender isn't as important as you think it is because anyone can be anything they want.
I don’t think this is the issue. It’s mostly because it’s a “look at me me me “ issue
+1. And I want gifts.
