We met on an online forum, but not for dating—for a mutual interest. I think the fact that only people with fairly compatible personalities were there in the first place is a factor in our success.

At a wedding. The groom, a mutual friend introduced us because we were going to be law school classmates in a few weeks. We danced all night and were in a group that shut down the hotel bar. When the happy couple returned from their honeymoon, we both inquired about the other . . . and learned that we were both in serious relationships. Sigh. We were just good friends throughout law school. After graduation and the bar exam, we both had travel plans with other friends, but we arranged to meet in London. When I saw him at the train station, I felt weak in the knees. Reader, we just celebrated our 25th anniversary.

I was a bridesmaid and he was a guest at the wedding and an old BF of the bride. We hit it off and it went on from there.

We worked for the same company but didn’t date for three years though we were very friendly. Then one day we were having lunch and it got flirty..mostly due to me...and that weekend I spent the night at his place. That was 27 years ago.

I agree with PPs, it isn't about where you meet, it's about having shared values. I would go futher and say it isn't about shared interests either, that helps, but it's also about each person's ability to be in a healthy relationship.

totally agree. when i met my spouse, it was more about it being the "right time" in my life and not necessarily that he was "mr. right." as in, we all needed to drop our relationship BS and decide that we were going to be decent to each other and give the relationship the time and space it needed to develop and possible grow into marriage.
