Nicknames generally come about one of two ways. Either you love a shortened version of the name you chose (ie: love Elizabeth and also love Lizzy), or the baby is born and the nickname organically happens.

This “I chose a name and now I need you to help me think of something else to call her” makes no sense to me.

+1 I'm one of three siblings and none of us went by nicknames. I have two kids -- one opted to use a shorter version of his name in elementary but eventually went back to the full name and the other has always gone by the full name.

Not every name needs a nickname!

+2 Caroline is such a beautiful name, too. Keep it as it is!

I know of a Lina (pronounced like Line-uh), short for Caroline.

Our Caroline goes by that at work and formally. But informally and with different friend groups, she goes by Carli or Carl. Her nicknames came from friends and just evolved over time. She is comfortable with all of them.
