Yeah I'm interested too. I have girl then boy and it's been wonderful. She is so protective of him, he looks up to her so much. It's just awesome.

Same. Plus the first child sort of determines the toys. We have such a cute girly playroom. I’ve also read that boys with older siblings make better husbands

I’m the original PP here. They have totally different personalities. Our girl always must be in charge, always telling everyone what to do, always setting the agenda. Our boy is quieter, wants his ideas heard and desperately wants her to validate what he does. So he cries often about not getting to make decisions and not getting his way sometimes. He’s be such a happier kid if he was the older or an only. We try to teach and correct DD’s behavior but it doesn’t work. And it drives us crazy but at school she has a ton of friends and gets praised for “leadership.” She is a great kid in her own way. But it wears on us. It’s just not a great dynamic for our family.

This is why I wanted a boy first. I am a first and this is the dynamic in my family. It probably would be easier for the boy to be the one in charge and telling everyone what to do, as old fashioned as that sounds.

No I wouldn’t choose if given the option.

+1. The liberals have no problem standing up criminals but have no problem killing a baby in the womb. Heartbeat starts at 6 weeks. If there is a heartbeat, there is a human life. These evil people will use any excuse to murder their children because they can’t keep their legs closed.

I'm a special ed teacher, and so I've taught many more boys than girls. I kind of wanted a boy for my first because it was what I knew. There had been so many little boys I loved that it's sort of what I imagined, and I figured it would be easier to have my first be what I knew. I kind of assumed that if I got my wish, I'd want a girl next.

Well, I got my boy, and he was the most amazing baby ever created, and grew up to be the most amazing perfect little boy. I might be biased, of course, but he's awesome. So, when I got pregnant again, I wanted the exact same thing.

Well, I got the chromosomes I wanted, the ultrasound showed a boy! Other than some common body parts and the same color hair, my two boys are nothing alike. They are so so different. And yet my second is just as perfect as my first. Now, looking back I think "why would I have wanted two the same? Different is better, variety is the spice of life!"

I assume that if I'd had a girl first or second, or a boy with the same personality as my oldest, or whatever, I'd be writing "Why would I have wanted anything else?"

I honestly would have loved either for my first. I think I was a bit scared of having a girl because I think it's more pressure to be the same-sex parent. But now that I have a daughter, I can't imagine it any other way.

We are debating having a second now and I love my daughter so much I think I can't help but hope for another girl. But I know I would adore a son too. I honestly don't think there's a bad option.

I do think when people are very obsessed with having one or the other, they often try to force gender stereotypes on their kids. As a woman whose mother did this, I'd just like to say that it's a good way to mess up both your kid and your relationship. Let your kids be themselves.

I don’t think I would take the option to choose but I did hope for one of each before we started. I had no real preference once I was pregnant with my first and then I had a slight preference to actually have another boy after my first because I was just so infatuated with my baby boy but I got a girl and ultimately feel like a boy and then a girl was so great for us. I’d have been happy with any combo though.

I would never want to choose. To me, it was so nice and felt like a gift, to help it be a bit of a mystery. I have a time has been somewhat controlling in life, and it was a nice thing to start learning more about giving up that control about our children’s genders. and now with teenagers, of course, I have given her any semblance of control.

I would have 2 of each. 2 boys then 2 girls so each has a built in buddy.
