I've learned to expect nothing better (and usually worse) from liberals.

I'm not buying that in-person learning in DC is untenable. What I am buying is that DCPS is a low-capacity and largely dysfunctional school system, where the teachers union, Mayor, OSSE and DCPS leaders can't get on the same page about re-opening schools, or much else, to save their lives.

We have to adapt, and keep moving the best we can while trying to minimize risk. It's time to think about what's best for our children rather than only thinking of those at risk. The US needs MORE educated people not less, in particular given our current state of affairs.

And if you unenroll, you can also be arrested if your child is of school age and not getting an education. Think wisely.

Schools have reopened all over the world. Kids are at higher risk of dying from a car accident. Our reaction in the US is extreme.

No masks, no social distancing, lots of singing and cheering in enclosed spaces.
Analysis from Sweden showed that ECE teachers were LESS likely to get infected than people in other protections and teachers in general were about even to other professions.
However given the high uncertainty I don’t think it’s unreasonable to keep the schools closed. Two things that DO infuriate me: indoor dining and bars being open, and no attempt to make use of outdoor space at DCPS schools for some in person instruction. The defeatism/ lack of will here is truly depressing.
