I live alone, bought my home myself.
I also make sure to put money in savings and precovid traveled whenever I was off.

Nannies aren’t lowly poor people.

We got lucky on so many counts!

I know several nannies (myself included) who are aware of the dangers and are more cautious than our nf.

Refusing to hire someone because they live with a spouse, and/or their children is absolutely discrimination.

There are people who don’t have custody of their children and/or don’t live with their spouse. There are also people who have others live with them. Regardless, asking if anyone lives with you is NOT protected.

This. Even if she says she lives alone, she is not alone. In fact my friends and family who live alone are seeing more people than my friends who don't. No one is going spend 1 year+ completely isolated from anyone except their employer unless they are being paid an insane amount of money.

The way to ask the question is "This is how our family is approaching COVID. I do x. Husband does y. We don't take public transit. Etc. How are you and your household handling it?"

And then after that, you just have to decide if you trust this person to be careful or not and let go.

According tk the feds, majority of the eeoc rules dont apply to very small employers anyway.
