NP. I read this entire dialogue in my head exactly as the commercial.

I'm a light sleeper, so likely I heard him leave. Either way, after a bit, I'd probably check. We both have trouble sleeping so he's probably on the couch reading or sleeping there.

My ex however, when this happened and I didn't find him sleeping somewhere else, I texted him. Turns out he was with the woman he was seeing. I figured it out months later when other stuff came out.

DH is never up in the middle of the night. He sleeps at 10-11 pm and is up at 7 am in the time of COVID.
I on the other hand have panic attacks and feel that I am drowning/choking/unable to breathe. I moved to another room when I realized that I wake him up all the time because of this (he did not complain as he is very supportive!). Now, I wake up and go downstairs and instead of panicking I just do household chores. Do dishes, laundry, clean bathrooms, mop the floor (no vacuums), cut veggis, make bread or bake.. After 2-3 hours of physical work I can come back upstairs and go back to sleep. Sometimes I will get up at 3 am and work till 6 am, then go back to sleep till 11 am. Its all good.

Usual reasons:
- one of us is snoring obnoxiously so somebody retreated to a guest bedroom for peace
- he's staying up insanely late playing video games in the basement
- i'm having an allergy attack and/or bout of insomnia so I left so he could sleep

For all of those it's roll over and go back to sleep.

On the rare occasion he was out at a friend's house and isn't home yet I get anxious, check email, maybe call his cell, etc... That happens maybe once every 2 or 3 years.

Our kids still wake up often during the night. If he’s checked on them he often falls asleep in their room. But I usually wake up before he does if they’re crying so I think I’d know if he got up. If he weren’t there and I hadn’t heard him get up I’d probably check on him.

I've never watched porn past 2am

My husband is a cross between this one and the peanut butter guy.

DH has PTSD. Sometimes he goes downstairs to read or stare at the computer. I do nothing. He likes his alone time in these situations.

He is taking a bath, in the office working, or eating in the kitchen. Together 15 years. He is up a lot. I would never look for him.

He sleeps hard and works never notice me up. I don't usually go anywhere but often read in bed if I get anxious or if I was up dealing with the kids and can't fall back asleep.

Neither of us ever get up in the middle of the night. I’m surprised by the numbers saying they do....

He had woken up early because his early bird tendencies are even more out of wack, probably because he is stressed or busy. He goes downstairs and just starts the day super early. Usually I will head him putting away last night’s dishes, making coffee, etc. He’ll sir at the kitchen table and read, listen to podcasts or NPR, for an hour or so. Our two cats know he is up too and head downstairs and hang out with him.

If I can’t sleep, I go downstairs and read and usually end up falling asleep on the couch because the light of me reading would bother DH. I can sleep through anything so DH can read in bed. He’s not worried if he sees me missing in the middle of the night - I would be more concerned that he was ill.

Same. Not all the time, but it is an option. I would think I may have been tossing and turning and he went to bed #2. No big deal. On the odd occasion where he is sick or something that needs my attention he is...not at all quiet. He had food poisoning once and it sounded like he was fending off a wild pack of honeybadgers in the bathroom. That would wake me up and I would investigate.
