A day later:

This doesn't seem good to me. Could someone tell me what we are doing in MD to make the trend go in the reverse direction?

Seriously? You opened up casinos, indoor dining, gyms, and bars. Pretty much every state that opened up the bars is seeing cases rise. It's not actually rocket science. Anytime you have an indoor space where a group of people is spending more than 15 minutes without masks -- so any place where people are eating and drinking -- you could have substantial transmission.

+1000000

In NYC, where their positivity rate is much lower they still won't be opening indoor restaurants, bars or malls. They're being smart and Hogan is stupidly gambling with the cases here to try to make some businesses happy. It might help in the short term but will ultimately cause more $ problems for all businesses if we have to shut down. MD needs to backtrack just a bit now to prevent us from having to shut down everything in a few weeks.

Cases are going up among young people in NYC, as well. It's happening everywhere.

NYC’s seven day rolling average is still well under 2%. I think for for July it’s been hovering at 1.3%. That’s really damn good for the most crowded city in the country.

If they continue, they will be able to open schools.

I think it’s smart that Como is opting not to open bars and malls.

They have opened restaurants to indoor dining in New York State. I went to do pickup at one and had to step inside for a credit card issue and there were diners inside. All socially distanced. Then drove by another restaurant that was loaded with people with no masks on inside the restaurant with tables crammed together. This was in western New York.

YES! Definitely opened too soon and never did squat to enforce the mask rule. Just wants to make his Ocean City buds happy and promote his book.

He wants to be elected president in 2024. It's going to his head.

Yes, we should have had a full shut down sooner, and we opened too quickly. It's fine to have take out at restaurants, but no indoor venues should be open right now. Certainly not bars. It's great he's for small business, but if this pandemic is not in control, and schools can't open safely, that will hurt all of us a lot more.

Easy to isolate. Poverty means less travel to hot spots. No big cities.

There should be no bars open in the United States for a month.

We should do all the things.

But most importantly we need to close indoor seating at restaurants and close the bars.

These trends don't look good for us. They make me think we will need to go back to Phase 1 pretty soon.

I think we will need to to get our numbers back down.

And Worcester County MD has a population of 52,000. New cases today are 17

17/52000x1000000= 326 new cases per million per day??

That's like Florida numbers. What's up with Worcester County?

Ahhhh... Ocean City.
