I have a feeling that you and OP are complaining both that people aren’t and are following public health protocols. The reality is you are trying to force your own standard on everyone else and complaining we don’t meet it. I follow the rules, but not your rules.

You'll get what you deserve -- but so will your kids, and so will mine, and so will I.
Thanks.

It must be really uncomfortable inside your tiny head. Small thoughts seem to be the only thing escaping.

+1. Or because you, the parent, needs a break from your own kids.

Newsflash - everyone is selfish in ways. Deal with it.

Selfish behavior isn't okay just because "everyone" engages in it, and not everyone does. If anyone "calling other people selfish" is also acting in selfish ways themselves, that means that they also need to correct their behavior, not accept that everyone will behave badly.

Also, paying others to do your grocery shopping may be a good choice for people who are immunocompromised.

Plenty of people ordering grocery delivery are not immunocompromised. They are shifting the risk to low wage workers and patting themselves on the back for how responsible they are being. Not all people ordering groceries are in this boat, of course, and I agree that for some, this is the safest choice. But for many, that's not the case. I have plenty of friends who are doing just this, but then are appalled when others have a socially distant visit with a small number of friends or family.

People are very judgmental of anyone behaving in ways that are different than how they are behaving - and I think this goes across the spectrum, for those being the most careful to the least. We're all selfish in ways, we're all judgmental in ways, and we aren't doing ourselves any favors.

I do tend to agree with you on the grocery store delivery and putting the risk on others, and we do our own grocery shopping. That said someone else said if I am purchasing food, I’m still part of the problem and I do sadly agree with that. I don’t think conditions are good in these meat plants or for migrant workers living in close quarters.

Better go start living off the grid then. Maybe you can shoot a deer with a musket or something.

I don't think PP is saying that....

Ultimately none of us are behaving perfectly from a COVID19 perspective, so maybe we should just worry about ourselves and our families, make the best decisions for us and our health, and be less judgmental when other people, whose circumstances we don't really know, make decisions other than ones we would make.

That would be right only if your decisions for your family only effected your family. They don’t. Hence the point of this thread - people/parents are being so selfish.

So many selfish people going to Trump's rally. Most of them not even bothering with masks.

Any good parent should worry about the isolation of children from their friends and school. It's an important part of social development. For you to suggest that parents only care in as much as their jobs are affected, or just want them out of the house is just unfair. That doesn't mean the lockdowns weren't necessary, but your first point is flatly wrong, and I say that as a SAHM who has enjoyed this time with my children but still worry.

What a privileged, whiny, small person you are. Some people HAD to send their kids to daycare this ENTIRE time. Do you think nurses have the option of working from home, or ambulance drivers or grocery store workers? Get over yourself.

Would you rather people lose their jobs and not be able to feed their kids? Would you rather those kids be homeless.

Sure, there are some people who are not doing what they are supposed to, but I think majority did what they were supposed to do.

Yes, it really is the whole story.

Gimme a T, gimme a R...!

Disgusting what we have come to.

America is completely finished. Our population will continue to grapple with virus while others clean up the mess and move on. Our economy is doomed and so is our culture. I think the November election is already too late.

Trump destroyed us.

I think this is a bit pessimistic. Many in America don't support Trump. He doesn't represent all Americans, thankfully

The US has a lower per capita death rate than Belgium, the UK, Spain, Italy, Sweden, France and the Netherlands.

Graduation parties. Summer pool parties. Beach trips.

We are going to all 3 this summer!!+!+
Woo hoo!!

Pool parties and beach trips are likely much safer than hanging out with a bunch of people all night in a still room, breathing the same air.

Umm they're proving decidedly not. Something about standing in a tepid pool of water, inhaling the spray, and laying immobile for hours next to way too many people spreads virus...who knew. Not to mention all the tactile contact between strangers and friends.

If you read the story you would see the kids were staying together in the same rental unit.

So, no pool spread or beach spread. These kids slept together and traveled together.

Exactly. There is no reason to shut down beaches, but you still have to practice physical distancing when you visit.

Please continue to socially distance until/unless public health authorities in your area recommend otherwise. If not for yourself or for your kids because you're healthy, for people who may suffer severe consequences if they get sick. For the future of everyone around the world.

COVID has killed healthy and young people: https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/05/health/young-people-dying-coronavirus-sanjay-gupta/index.html. It can potentially have long term consequences, lung damage and neurological issues among them: https://www.healthline.com/health-news/what-we-know-about-the-long-term-effects-of-covid-19

It's still very rare to die from covid if you are young. Deaths from covid February through June by age: 132 people ages 15-24 and 732 people ages 25-34 (CDC). That includes those with preexisting conditions. Pneumonia deaths in those age groups was more common (235 and 885, respectively). This is not to say we shouldn't practice social distancing and mask wearing of course, but just to clarify.
