I want a home that looks inviting/comfortable rather than one that looks like your name is gonna be called soon for a root canal.

It’s not forever, you’re going to die.

Here's an example of a way to marry tumbled stone with clean, modern lines. You could switch out the brick for travertine and use oiled bronze for the fixtures and hardware.

Agree. Colonial kitchen only. This includes no running water. Authentic!

What styles are you hoping to see? I haven't followed the thread, I'm sorry!

What you'd see in an American home that was decorated as "Tuscan" is pretty different from what you'd see is Tuscany. Real estate listings are always helpful in taking a peek inside high end homes. Case in point, here's the kitchen in a $12 million Euro home in Tuscany. Not much to get excited about. The living spaces and patios are gorgeous, though.

$11 million Euros

Anyway, let me know the styles you want to see and I'll see what I can find. I don't speak Italian, but am good in Spanish and can get by in French. Happy to search out inspiration from other countries.

My bad, it was in this retro kitchen thread. https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/879112.page

There was a beautiful kitchen in the Eye Candy thread that reminded me of modern Tuscan. Let me see if I can find it.

As for gray being passe, I'm seeing navy blue and dark green cabinets more and more. I personally love those colors, but they aren't to everyone's taste. It's generally a smarter move to stick with gray/white/natural cabinets and tile if you're decorating to sell in order to appeal to a wider audience. If you're decorating to live in for years to come, go wild.
