This is not a judgement. Just an observation.
Warren won the most votes in Arlington, IIRC, in the latest Democratic primary.
Born and lived all my life in MD now considering moving to northern VA - dont laugh. While this may not seem like a big move for most, for this MD girl who swore to always hate VA - it is. I have small kids and want a home in a neighborhood that is aligned to great schools. I could find that in MD but don’t want to move to the suburbs as I’m currently in SS. Also long term my kids would have better college options in VA.
I say all that to say, if you’ve made the MD to VA move - what’s it like? Is the air different and how does it feel to live in a republican state?
(Don’t laugh at the post!)

While people are emphasizing that VA is increasingly a democratic state...these are southern democrats. Like yes Hogan is a republican but he also hasn’t been pictured in blackface like our governor and ag. There are also people (I live in Arlington) who are Democrats but yet opposed to removing Lee from the name of the high school.
Also the lack of outdoor public pools in NoVa is a direct result of segregation.
I think a PP made a good point about their POC spouse being more comfortable around Jewish people. Historically, their rates of involvement in the civil rights movement and intermarriage have been much higher. Not sure if that is still the case.
I live in Arlington too. Those people who opposed the name change are overwhelmingly old white people. Did you stream the school board meetings where people spoke against the change? I did. All old people. It's not like your typical 30-40yo is fighting to keep Lee on the high school!
I've lived here 20 years, coming from the deep south, and it's very different here, so get out with your whole "southern democrat" nonsense. All the Dixiecrats are Republicans now.
