Having managed teams at various clubs (both local and in other states, albeit at a younger age groups), much of what parents paid up front go to leagues and for fields; if those aren’t refunded by the leagues and county, it is difficult for the club to refund. Same thing goes for tournaments, many of them may not have refunded much of the registration fee to teams, which can climb into the thousands of dollars for major showcase tournaments. Just my two cents.

I am a bit confused as to why Alexandria is giving different credits for different age groups. Is the issue more tournaments, or more non-ASA tournaments, or league fees? It seems odd. I understand that there is a different cost for girls v. boys, which could explain a bit, but the rest I don't get.
Not all age groups nor team levels (red, white etc) have the same amount of weekly practices, tournaments and so on. As such, the cost to deliver services to an older Red team that is practicing more often and attending more tournaments is higher than a team slated to practice twice weekly and do one local tournament. The fee for that team is less and therefore the credit/refund is less. Thats how I understand it

NP. My child plays for a different club that gave a similar refund. I'm actually not that caught up in the amount of the refund. But, I don't want to put it towards next year, have there be no fall season, and then lose more money. I don't know any way to avoid this though.
Sorry if I should have started a new thread.
I would take the refund and not sign up.
