I thought it was crazy to pay so much money but I’m very glad we did. DC had an amazing camp experience at Congo this summer. I liked the 6 week commitment in the end because it seemed they were able to build a strong bond.

While imperfect in its social distancing and masking, the processes were there and the small cohorts limited risks. There were no illnesses, as far as I know. Saved the kiddo's summer and our sanity. Counselors were great, the activities were lots of fun, and the kiddo loved the campus, nature walks, and pool.

It also gave me some faith that a small private school that is willing to adopt very small cohorts and conduct classes outside where possible would be able to have in-person learning in the fall, especially if families take an explicit pledge to limited their contacts, which Congo did not require from camp attendees.

Posting to share my gratitude - both for the fact that Congressional ran this camp, and for this forum alerting me to it. My daughter had the time of her life this summer and it was amazing to see her make friends, have fun and try new things after a spring when she wilted. We will be back at Congo Camp next summer!

We signed our kids up. Their sleepaway camp was cancelled and that was even more $$$ so it evened out. I am a bit nervous both that my kids will get sick and that they won't like the camp (this will be their first time at Congo). But my husband and I work and we just moved to the area so we don't have other families to form a pod with. Plus I figured this may be their only chance to spend all day every day with other kids for a while - who knows what will happen in the fall.

It was $120 for afternoon extended day and would be open until 6:30pm. The covid minicamp costs $4650 for six weeks with some extended day coverage, but runs a hefty $775 a week. I bet the 140ish spots will still go quickly since there really aren’t many (any?) in-person camp options this summer.

A week at congo was previously $495 without extended day, extended day made it $500 something, not quite sure, but under 700..Congo has always provided meals.

Extended care, in our experience, often adds considerably to the cost of camp. $700/week is fairly typical with full extended care, so their price doesn't seem outrageous, though it's still high.
