Of course they are. If the weak link “parent” is a pig and leaves messes everywhere and never takes care or things, why would any of his kids take care of it?

He should be (a) leading by good example, and (b) parenting them to do good habits. Picking up after yourself is a pretty universal, basic life habit. Do it daily so it doesn’t build up, and certainly if you share a home w others.

Poor lady. She looks heartbroken and utterly disappointed.

She posted the kids on TikTok. 4 girls and 1 boy with estimated ages of 6, 8, 11, and 13. Activities featured showed them all old enough to brush their own teeth and dye easter eggs without assistance.

Her spouse's laziness has nothing to do with a colicky baby.

All of them old enough to help out too. My kids (8, 10) are not exactly superstars, and we don't demand a lot from them. But, last weekend, they cleaned two bathrooms (toilet and sinks and trash, not the tubs), did their laundry from start to finish (a little help with the socks), vacuumed the downstairs and emptied the dishwasher. They will do the same this weekend. They regularly set the table, empty the dishwasher, do some form of laundry and tidying their rooms. They get themselves breakfast and lunch, with some assistance as needed, My spouse is not the one, however, to enforce this. I have always been the one to push them to do it. He finds it easier to do it himself and yes, initially it is easier because they suck at it, but they get better and learn.

I understand how a day with a bunch of kids can be crazy, but having cleaning up activities should be part of it. Every good daycare knows the clean up song!

With a 7-person household I don't think this is out of character. I do think it accumulated over a week and she didn't do anything about it and neither did the husband sitting at home.

Yeah, with 7 people that laundry machine is running 24-7 ... or should be.

My spouse is a slobby pig with terrible habits. But his fancy graduate degrees and lecturing make him think he's above everyone and everything.
