Remember, too, that current HS students don't get to opt out of MS language and other advanced classes counting toward their GPA. They've made it optional for subsequent years, but if you're going to count 6th grade Spanish for GPA, you damn well better count the grades he got in AP and honors classes as a sophomore.
Maybe you were at a school where the end of Q3 went well, but at my school the kids had tests that had a significant impact on grades after 4 weeks of no instruction. There's unfairness lurking in many of the Q3 grades, too. If your kid was not harmed in the 3rd quarter, you are blessed.
The teachers were not allowed to lower their grades from where they were on March 13th, when school closed. So this scenario didn't happen. If it did, you should contact the school.

DP - but PP is allowed to have an opinion. Their opinion is it does not matter.
I'm the Do.Not.Care poster. I'm just answering the question put forth in the thread title. Periods for emphasis.
You must have a little kid. Or a kid who does not care about grades on a college application.

There should be an option to include those grades on the transcript. It would not disadvantage other students who choose not to include their Q3 grades if it’s optional.
Also, what happens next year if there is a quarter or 2 with no grades? It’s really not fair to students.
I am planning to write the BOE.
The whole pandemic isn't fair to students. And people who aren't students.

Sounded like MCPS is pushing:
MP3 - Letter Grade
MP4 - Pass or Incomplete
Semester - Credit/No Credit or Incomplete
2nd semester would not factor into GPA.
Some of the Board expressed the desire to give the students the option of Credit/No Credit or a letter grade.

However, there are many colleges (esp large universities) that make decisions based on cumulative GPAs. And other colleges that especially look at upward trends. There are many juniors who will be hurt in the college admissions process if their third quarter grades are not shared with colleges, either by not being included on the transcript and/or not included in calculating the cumulative GPA.
So one quarter of missing grades will make or break admissions? I just find that hard to believe.
