So apparently St. Bart's in Bethesda went through this and the parents raised enough money to keep it open another year. Is anyone here a St. Bart's parent?

The size of a school doesn't automatically place it in a financial danger. Look at Bullis's 990 using the metrics offered by others. Their financial picture looks questionable.

I will agree about Barnesville.

It has lost a ton of teachers. Administration is incompetent and honestly no experience.

Evidence?

Middle school:

Their social studies teacher left after Christmas this year. Their Spanish teacher just up and quit last spring before school ended, and the school couldn't get anyone to teach the rest of the school year.
They've been through 3 science teachers in 2 years. One of them quit after the winter break too. They can't field athletic teams because the enrollment is so low, and they had trouble doing their fall play this year for the same reason. I don't know about elementary, but middle is suffering a lot. Something is going on to have such high teacher turnover.

Generally, I think the elementary program is in better shape than the middle school program.

I don't know. Those who are making those allegations have yet to provide evidence.

If you are talking about Barnesville, it's not possible they are functioning above water.

Since the mid 2000's they have lost way too many families, have not been able to fill slots for each grade level. It's amazing it is still around.

Their net assets are fine. Their asset to liability ratio is fine. The numbers don’t lie.

Here's another document. You can't derive all these metrics from a 990, but you can get some. For example, liabilities should be no more than 50% of assets.
