I'm a single parent with a 7 year old. Can I just leave her alone at home so I can go to the grocery store? I think it's probably just safer for her to be at home by herself than in a dirty grocery store with the virus possibly living on multiple surfaces. We're in Virginia so I don't think it's technically illegal to leave her home alone, right?

Same here, with a 7 year old, I leave him alone to go to the store. I am not gone for long and he has a neighbor to reach out to in an emergency. I tell him he can't go outside and that he can't open the door to anyone. So far so good. He is so glued to screens he probably doesn't even notice that I am gone.

Also a single parent with young kid. So far i have taken him with me but he stayed in the car since the weather is still cool. He was fine with it and watched a video on the phone while i ran inside. I have thought about leaving him home and letting my next door neighbor know but we'll cross that bridge later.

I take my son. He gets so anxious without being able to get out.

How revoltingly irresponsible.

NP
Why?

They are old enough to go and stay in the car and listen to music while you shop. THey might like it just for the change of scenery and activity.

Single parent. No choice. I try to use instacart and amazon fresh, but sometimes we have to go out.

Never!

Nope, no way. My kid is not going anywhere. People passing on the sidewalk have enough trouble keeping their distance...people in stores on worse.

What? Hell no. If you’re a single parent, have groceries delivered. Or order online and pick up. We need the fewest number of people out as possible.

If you have no choice but to take your child, bring him/her and get in and get out fast. Don't use it as an "excursion" or a way to "get your kids out of the house."

No. One person goes and gets in and gets out.
