Anonymous wrote:My absolutely favorite all time historical series is the Hornblower series. English navy during the Napoleonic wars. The subject may seem dry to you but it's fabulously acted and plotted. If you remember Master and Commander, it's similar. Great battle scenes, plus more. While not as glamorous or fancy (which makes them more realistic in my view) they are superb watching. Eight episodes, each two hours long. Start with one and follow to the end.

Anonymous wrote:Roman Mysteries on prime is excellent. They take fictitious man characters and put them in a storyline about Ancient Rome. Liberty kids does the same thing with the revolutionary time period but is animated and skews younger. All three kids could watch this show.

Also, the Ken Burns documentary "National Parks: America's Best Idea" changed our whole lives. It will make your kids want to get out there!
Re John Adams; it is interesting but I think only for adults because it's too slow moving and dry for kids. You have to really want to learn your history to watch it. LOL Start with something exciting, OP...start with Sparticus!
