Have you ever been in a such a program or have had a child in one?
Why else would I say or think that?? I didn't just imagine it and I truly think it's something that someone willingly wanting to go such a program should be made aware of.
I have no idea. But in our experience, kids are not treated like prisoners. In patient programs can save lives.
Same here. My son would not be alive without residential treatment. It was a life saver. And, yes, there is structure. But, no, he wasn't a prisoner.
Also teens struggling with depression and verbalize wanting to go to an in patient program should not be met with a snarky answer.
Op, there are intensive outpatient programs too. I hope you and your kid can find a path for help.
