GW is where recent DC transplants have their babies because it’s metro accessible.

My source for this are a few doctors I know personally as friends (an ICU doc, 2 OBGYNS) who themselves either delivered their children there or have worked in those hospitals. The consensus among doctors in this area, they tell me, is - Fairfax: great for both mom and baby, especially if complications arise, there is a lot they can do to save both mom and baby. Sibley: good for moms, but even better for baby if complications arise. they put a lot of emphasis on the baby and less on the comfort of mom, but still of course the care is exceptional. These are the best two hospitals in this area, hands down. If you can swing it, Johns Hopkins in Baltimore is also amazing.[/quote
IOVA is too far for OP. And traffic? Hope to have that baby in the middle of the night, I guess.
And say more about Sibley for problems with baby? Every case I know of personally, the baby was transferred to Georgetown, and mom had to stay at Sibley. What is their NICU level?

DC will probably be more convenient since we would typically be coming from work for our appointments. I prefer a doctor over a midwife. I am not high-risk, but would prefer to be at a place that has a great NICU. Based on that, do people have suggestions? What do people think about Georgetown Medstar?
I gave birth twice at Georgetown Medstar and loved it. YMMV.

Inova Fairfax and Sibley don’t seem better than GW or Georgetown. Is it patient selection? More high risk cases going to the former and increasing the c-section rates?
