I don't know about your son's school, but at my kid's middle school graduation the kids wore shirts and ties. Not suits.

My kid (at age 15) wore a Christmas one and looked awesome. (he's not exceptionally out-going or confident, but he got such a positive response when he wore it I know he'd do it again). He also has had quite a few really nice higher-end suits (tailored, etc) and I felt for 80 bucks, I'd definitely buy an OPPOsuit again. They're pretty fun, they have solid colors, when you kid grow out of it in 8 months.. who cares?

i got one at target on-line; it's totally fine. figured i did not want to spend much for something that will last six months.

I have gotten my teen suits at Men’s Wearhouse, Macy’s, and Nordstrom’s. I don’t understand those I think it’s odd for a teenager to wear a suit. My child has needed to suit for several occasions including his own bar mitzvah and his younger siblings bat mitzvah. he also has a sport coat and dress pants as well. I will add that by the time he needed his first suit he was no longer in kids sizes. That may have made it easier for us because he fit into men’s sizes easily.

My teen is tall and slender, and found a good-fitting suit for him at Express (Montgomery/Westfield mall). They have a slim cut that worked really well for him--no alterations needed.

My son was asked to wear a black suit for a special event. He's super skinny but not short enough to wear kid sizes. And too small for the men's stores. I ended up finding a gorgeous Italian wool jacket that we had tailored, and then I bought these black pants to go with it from Amazon. I was worried that the fact that they were different fabrics would be obvious but it wasn't. These Penguin brand pants were quite nice and fit in a fashionable way. We did have them altered. They also sell the matching jackets. Tell the tailor to leave enough fabric in the hem so that you can have them taken out as he grows.

OP here. Wow. The conversation kind of shifted. I don't have any preconceived notion about what kind of boy wears a suit -- especially a 14 year old who is taller than me. I think I'll just take him to one or two of the places mentioned and see what he likes. Mostly likely he won't care.

The pants aren’t baggy, they don’t drag on the ground, the jacket fits properly, the sleeves don’t cover his hands. He doesn’t look like a used car salesman.
