Sidwell is kinda focused on their own school. They don’t sweat other folks unless it’s a sporting event.

I think they were smart because if kids at GDS had to pick up their backpacks they would hold a grudge about it.

Parent behavior from GDS is not bad because they are always getting pounded on the sports field.

And if there are cars parked illegally in the lot when you arrive, more than not those are cars with GDS bumper magnates. It could be the school lacks a booster culture. The parent behavior was troubling enough that we discouraged our children from considering the school when applying into HS.

That is part of the understated culture of the institution.

I know both schools very well. There are a couple of differences. Sidwell's campus is better and will always be better because they have more open space and more athletic fields. That is not going to change with GDS' new campus.

Sidwell's environment is liberal but seems stiff and conservative compared to GDS.

Other than that, you are basically fighting over different flavors of Haagen-daz. Academically they are both rigorous. A successful student at GDS would be successful at Sidwell and visa versa.

For some reason, some GDS parents have a chip on their shoulder vis-a-vis Sidwell, but they really shouldn't.

One thing that GDS definitely does not lack is a "booster culture." GDS boosterism seems to be in the DNA.
