Not a coincidence. A lot of people object to the notion that any board member gets to handpick their successor.
Well where was the outcry when Emma Violand-Ssanchez handpicked Tannia?
Tannia had kids in APS, had lived here for years. She didn't just parachute in and take over.

It wasn’t just the blue-hairs. There were party people who are youngish (like have ES kids) who defended it.
I get that the party wants to promote those they think have future promise. But they don’t belong on the SB. They can go run for political office at the CB or state house level.

But ALL of her Arlington Young Democrat will show up.
I like Sandy a lot and it seems others do to. Can all non-young Dems please choose a second candidate to get behind? I don’t want to split votes and have Christina sneak through. From the speeches, my second vote would be for Priddy, but really don’t know. Anyone except Christina.

Why does everyone on the school board have to be 45-60 years old? Isn’t there some value in bringing in a younger voice? Maybe Christina isn’t the right person, but as a general matter I think a younger voice could be good as 1 among 5.

I’ve seen Symone get nasty on AEM, and I can’t forget that. Priddy originally ran with a bone to pick. I’m not convinced he has evolved.
Cristina- just no.
Just looking at their websites those would be my choices too. I've met Terron also - he seems like a good guy.
Symone's platform on her website is ridiculous - nothing about capacity and actually educating students.
No way would I vote for Cristina.
Terron seems like a good guy but also one of those people where I'm like....what has he ever really done? Like, he shows up at things, and he's good at getting his picture taken, and getting appointed to stuff, but does anyone ever say he's accomplished anything? Like when Reed ran, people talked about how he had pushed hard to get the left turn lanes when they redid the Glebe/Columbia Pike intersection. And when Nancy ran, people talked about all the things she had done to help parents of students with disabilities. Terron shows up, but does he lead? I don't want another Tannia on the board, who is a perfectly nice person, but doesn't really help lead us through all of the tough decisions we have to make. People may find Reed and Nancy abrasive, but they put in the time, know the issues, have a point of view and will defend it--they aren't just there for the photo opps.

Any person who cares one ounce about Arlington schools should object. If they don’t, it is because they really don’t give a flyin’ f*%# about them. Blinded by politics. Blinded by only listening to one side of the issues for so long.
