Love the cherry! Thank you.

OP, I am loving this thread. Looking for ideas to inject more blue into a room with classic beige couches and mahogany furniture. My style swings more classic than is typical, so there’s not a lot of inspiration in magazines. The room you posted earlier with a navy couch facing patterned chairs was stunning, but sadly we already own the khaki couches.

We need to update a kitchen, possibly for us but probably for re-sale in the just under $1.5M range. Realtor says there was no need to paint or replace the existing (beautiful) medium cherry cabs a la 2010. So, cherry cabs, light hardwood floors, stainless appliances & chimney hood/exhaust. What say you for countertops and backsplash?
Love this thread. Thanks!

I don't love everything in these, but there are some potential idea here! I'm not great with wood stains, so I'm not totally sure of medium cherry.

Just to give you an idea of what light counters might look like.

The more I look at these, the more I like lighter counters. At first, I thought dark was nicer.

Okay, back on the case. Window treatments for bay windows or eating nooks.

Bamboo shades

These look like bamboo, but aren't the typical off-the-shelf ones you find at Lowes. More like Shade Store or Smith & Noble

Outside mount romans (first one is from the DC Design House in 2014...space is by Aiden Design)

Inside mount romans

Upholstered pelmet (in my looking, there are some really bad DIYs of these...proceed with caution!)

Layers

Drapes

Tobi Fairley...she likes color!

I love the window seats! We're pricing out custom benches for bay windows right now

I just realized the request was for window treatments. Sorry. I'll try again later.

I'm guessing we'll see lots of bench seating. When I was a kid, we had the kitchen remodeled and the new, built-in bench was so uncomfortable, my big brother ripped it out for my mom after a few weeks. Whatever you do, make sure it's comfy!!!

See, these are examples of one that looks totally uncomfortable. Your back against a window? I think you have to have some wall if you want people to sit against that side OR have a banquet instead of a bench.

Are you talking about maximizing value for resale? Don't do anything. Leave as is.

The countertops and backsplash 100% need to be replaced. We have some plans to move, but may end up staying put.

Is anyone seeing a sad-face house where there were basement pictures? Maybe whatever site I grabbed them from doesn’t like people lifting images.

Yep, was so confused by this haha. I love this thread though, thank you!
