I waited three years until I became an empty nester as I had no interest in dating when my children were home. Once that happened it was very easy given I’m pretty good looking, very fit and outgoing. I used a dating app and after a couple of frogs I met a nice guy who on the second date I took advantage of. After a few years of celibacy I was definitely ready. I’ve been in a relationship with a different guy for almost a year and I’m really enjoying myself.

Op: At least I know I'm not an oddity. I thought two years without sex made me a unicorn. I didn't want to get involved with anyone throughout my separation. Now that I'm divorced I'm starting all over from scratch since I never maintained relationships with other men while married. Crazy how my ex did and has all these options and now I'm divorced and completely sexless. Such is life, I suppose.

It's not that I don't want to but I am not interested in married men and I don't meet a lot of single guys in my every day life. My goal for 2020 is to change this.

Also agree to the hell no on married men. Now that I am on the flip side of being cheated on by my husband, I am clear that he was the aggressor in the cheating. Married men are truly something else, so many of them are willing to cheat on their wives...


Chiming in to say how shocking it is how so many married men have come out of the woods to proposition me after the divorce. Its destroyed my faith that any of them can be trusted.

Not to say I am not tempted by one in particular but I won't be a hypocrite

Nah. It actually takes work for men to have sex. Can't just go into a bar and lift up your skirt like a woman can. If it's been years since you've had a first date, it's tough. And for a while, even flirting with new women makes you feel vaguely guilty like you're cheating ("wife might find out") or something. Takes time to shake off that thought pattern that got ingrained over years of marriage.

Pretty much just walk up to any normal-looking man and ask, and there you go, itch scratched. Not quite so easy for men, alas...
