My ped said that he will discuss it after 8. She suggested diaper, waterproof bedding and waking him up so he could pee at around 4 am. I put the alarm for a week and would guide him to the bathroom to pee. He started doing it on his own after a week and never had an accident after that.

It is not an issue.

However, if your kid is peeing a lot during the day and is always thirsty, please get him checked for diabetes.

Also, sometimes deworming also helps with bedwetting.

If you haven't bought them already OP Target was having a sale on their overnight diapers. Up and Up brand. They've been excellent on our boys. I believe they sell doublers there as well.

I would focus on helping him figure out what he needs to take care of it himself at night. A nightlight? Multiple layers of sheets so he can strip them away as needed? Don't worry about medical issues if the peeing is all at night. Concentrate instead on helping him manage it himself until morning.

Not only at night. Doesn't make sense.

I have 2 boys 7 and almost 6. They both wet at night on a regular basis. I still prefer diapers for them. Diapers fit higher on the waistline and protect better against leaks around the legs in my opinion. They also have wetness indicators and make late night changings easier if needed. Almost every store has diapers in size 7 or you can buy them online. My oldest is almost 50 pounds and fit him fine. I wouldn't be concerned about bed wetting just mention it at his Pediatrician appointment.
