No one here is saying it’s a sure thing. They’re saying that there is a chance, and if op absolutely doesn’t want to get pregnant, she needs to continue to use condoms, and plan B if those fail.

Dh and I stopped using birth control when we got married when I was 38. I ended up having healthy kids at 41 and 44. I also got pregnant at 46, but that ended in a miscarriage. At that age, highest probable outcome was an m/c. Second highest probability was a healthy pregnancy to term, third highest was to term with a chromosomal defect.

Pregnancies after 45 are unusual, but they do happen.

This. It's close to zero percent chance OP can successfully carry a baby to term, about one in ten thousand or less. Most of the people you know who got pregnant after age 42 did so with IVF but don't tell you. Nothing wrong with that of course.

Thank goodness someone called a spade a spade! DW was pregnant more than I care to remember in her mid to late 40’s and every pregnancy had a chromosome defect. You have a better chance of meeting God than getting pregnant in your mid to late 40’s without issues and a baby without some sort of birth defect. If you’re willing to take on a special needs baby, I applaud you.

We used condoms until DH got a vasectomy. They are easy, cheap, and no side effects.

Why is this something you question? I'm 48, married, and dh uses them. We don't want surgeries, I can't tolerate hormonal, I acutally used a diaphgram for years but can't find a dr to fit a new one after a baby 5 years ago so we're using condoms until menopause.

OP-personally, I wouldn't take the plan b. The chance of a pregnancy is miniscule and the pill itself has effects. Check the package insert.
