TELL IT PP!!!!!!!!! Steve was such a step down for Miranda. She settled in a ridiculous way, all because she got knocked up (which you’d think she wouldn’t do, if her prior actions on the show served as a prediction of future ones).

I also agree with another PP who said that Aidan was a pushover. Honestly couldn’t see his appeal.

I remember not having cable so later watched it later on CDs mailed from Blockbuster online! It was so exciting to wait for the next CD.

I was early 20s, single, just out of college, living alone in a city when this came out. Loved it because there was little TV directed to my demographic. It was all single women, not a family sitcom, and they addressed real dating type issues. Admittedly in an exaggerated way but of course because it’s TV. Just like no one in NYC is ever portrayed having realistic apartments, I didn’t take the show as realistic or dictating my own sex life. I didn’t aspire to be any of the characters, thoughI could relate glimpses of them to aspects of myself or friends. Also, it was refreshing at the time to see depictions of women talking dating and sex not limited to finding a husband and living happily ever after. Even with Charlotte. It is dated now for sure but I think it did good things in its time.

See, I loved it exactly because the women made such bad choices sometimes! It's fun to watch a train wreck. That's why people love celebrity gossip and the tabloids. Who wants to watch a bunch of perfectly behaved people for 6 seasons straight?

I also liked the depiction of the friendship exactly because it was so flawed and some character behaviors were so crappy and selfish, but ultimately the women stuck together anyway. I've had the same small, tight-knit group of friends since I was a teenager, and looking back at our friendship now that we're all around 40, sometimes we took turns being little selfish jerks!

+1 Yeah I don’t get the people talking about it doesn’t pass a smell test. It’s a fluff show meant for entertainment. Some of you people have no idea how to unclench and relax.

Wow! Are you that easily influenced?

Back then, I was. I went off to college and was popular and guys liked me and I didn't know what to do with you. You all are ignorant AF if you think this isn't common. I look back now and see a lot of WTF moments. But I'm married and have kids now. No abortions or STDs ever so I was always safe.

You thought a TV show was an example of how one is supposed to act? And you're calling US ignorant? Oh, the irony...

Yes, it was basically propaganda for degeneracy and vapid thrill seeking that almost always leads to regrets, mental issues and IVF.

Not for those of us who can (gasp) actually think for ourselves and separate entertainment from reality. Did you also watch Dexter and long to become a serial killer?

It was entertaining fluff. I would never have a friend as nasty and vapid as Carrie who only ever cared about herself. And anyone who thought it was something to emulate is stupid.

I thought the episode where she and Samantha switched perspectives explained that. Charlotte's traditional, but not hidebound.

And to another PP, I can totally see her attraction to Aidan to the extent that he was a doormat who fixed everything she was too immature to cope with.
