I’m with the PP who thinks that he has an AP who wears makeup and he’s trying to get his wife to be more like her. Unfortunately I’ve also seen it before.

I would if he asked. He prefers longer hair so I keep it long. He says he doesn't like makeup but always compliments me when I'm wearing just a little (as natural as I can) to enhance/smooth out my face.

Agree, and yes I would. I also keep my hair longer because he likes it. Of course it would be easier to chop it all off. I want my husband to be attracted to me.

OP here, that's the same thing with me. I wore light makeup on my wedding day, but someone did it for me because I didn't have a clue. My DH has known me for 11 years so it came out of nowhere. He even bought me makeup as birthday gift yesterday which is how this conversation about makeup came about.

Your husband is being fairly clear that she would like you to spruce yourself up a little. Maybe he’s losing his attraction to you and wants to spark the fire. Ignoring him without even trying it or talking to him about it will not end well.

For a special occasion maybe, everyday no. I’m not sure what the guy equivalent but I think it would be if I said, oh, I like you to wear light cologne or I like you in European cut suits or gave him a salon certificate to shave off his beard. For one, in his everyday and how he presents himself at work and with his friends, he needs to feel comfortable. Of those three things, maybe my DH would wear cologne taking me out for our anniversary but he isn’t going to wear it to work, he isn’t going to dress in something he’s not comfortable wearing and he isn’t shaving his beard.

Because I really don't care about looking prettier when I am running up to the shops to pick up dinner and don't give me the 'I wear make-up for myself' crap. Women wear make-up to look prettier, not for themselves but for everyone else.

To tell you the truth if a woman has to wear make-up all the time and a full face at that I always think she is insecure. And if a woman is wearing make-up to the gym and there a ton of them that do that, I definitely think they are insecure, how disgusting sweating into a face full of make-up. Yuck. How desperate do you need to be.

If my husband wanted me to wear perfume or some make-up or heels, I would do it but then he wears the cologne that I like.

Makeup makes me feel like my face is dirty so I couldn’t handle it everyday, but sure, maybe once or twice a month I could do it.

Tell hubby that cosmetics are bad for your skin.

That they oftentimes tend to clog facial pores, thus creating blackheads & acne.

Usually women who do not wear make-up have naturally, beautiful skin it seems.

Have you ladies never bought your man a tie, hair product, said you like him shaved or with a beard or whatever? I love DH no matter how he chooses to present himself, but if I literally never wore makeup and he found the balls to gently request it, I'd probably try to have some fun with it. I mean, to be honest, if you go to fancy events with him with zero makeup on, you will look out of place. If you hate it, fine, don't do it. But I guarantee you, youi'll look and feel fantastic if you use it sparingly on special occasions.

If my husband asked me to stop wearing makeup, I wouldn’t. I wear makeup because I love it.

I asked my DH recently if he would like me to wear makeup. I currently don’t wear it with the occasional exception of some mascara and eye liner/shadow. He surprised me and said no but that he would like me to grow my nails out and paint them a sexy color like pink or red! So the trick with this request is that I am a nail biter. I am trying to paint with a nail strengthener every night but it’s slow growing. I’m trying but this is going to be hard.

In conclusion, I don’t think it’s an unreasonable request. My DH asked me to do something he finds attractive/sexy. It’s good to communicate this stuff right? I think being asked to put makeup on every day would be a higher bar and I would probably refuse on practical grounds but I would do it on weekends and evenings out if that is what he wanted.
