What a bizarre, hateful post. It's logical. He didn't say what level she wants to play at, but unless she is shooting for DA or ECNL, it's a good choice. If she does want DA or ECNL, then obviously Barca isn't a good fit. Not all families want to travel the continental U.S. for U13 and at that age, a smaller developmental club makes sense.

Arlington favors direct play. Alexandria might be a good choice. I think their Futsal emphasis suggests a more technical style of play, if that location is a good fit. I don't remember SYC or Vienna being a possession/midfield style.

No hate, brother. Just reality. This isn’t the first topic that has been used that way. Very insidious behavior. It was more honest when the pumping came within your own thread.

How many kids have you lost to Barca coach?

Barca must be a problem for him to be so prickly about that. So much hostility

Lmao. Same playbook every time from you Barca folks when someone merely points out that you are trying to boost your club.

So paranoid.

Ok, you have the stage. Name the 5 best clubs in the region for midfield development for a 9-12 year old.

First, at those ages, you primarily develop technical skills. Formations are different than 11v11 formations. Midfield play has a different nature between 7v7 or 9v9 and 11v11. The best environments at those ages that would produce capable midfield players are, based on historical information (seeing players at older ages coming out of these programs and producing at a high level) and not wishcasting:

FCV, McLean, Alexandria, Bethesda, Herndon

Loudoun and Arlington are great at producing forwards, backs, and keepers.

Generally the bones of whatever a player's natural position are realized and developed before U13. There is still much to learn but much of the foundation has been laid before 13.

Do you mean literally bones? Or do you mean like mental framework?

I think FCV is more a forward/defender type club as well. Someone referred to it as the Klopp system.

Not, literally bones. Technical ability, aptitude, soccer IQ etc. Depending on the kid they can flourish or be wasted in the right or wrong environment. The personality of the kid plays a role too. Not all players are the right mental fit for certain positions regardless of technical or tactical ability.

If FCV develops forwards and defenders it may be more indicative of the personalities that they look for and recruit/develop. A club that wants aggressive, physical and technical kids are more likely to produce forwards not because they don't value midfielders but because they value a particular personality type more.

For those bashing other posters for suggesting specific teams and clubs, above is the original post in this thread. The OP is literally asking for people to make recommendations.

The question is about which clubs tend to play through the midfield as opposed to bypassing the midfield with long balls.

That Barca and Alexandria are going to suggested as examples is obvious to anyone who has seen their teams play. Lots of reasons to criticize either club, but it can't seriously be argued that both don't have a style of play that is conducive to playing through the midfield.

I would also add Girondins de Bordeaux in MD. Beyond that I think it's really team dependent vs club dependent. I am sure there are other u13G teams out there that meet this criteria I just haven't seen them. What about Arlington under coach Gerardo? VDA with coach Quan?

Constructive comments would be welcome.

I had forgotten Bordeaux. Yes, they coach are very nice brand of midfield oriented soccer too.

And I would go one further that even though Barca does teach possession that the 07 team may simply not be the best team choice if their quality is not sufficient. Even within a club that may do the right thing overall the particular age group may just not be the best fit so it is still best to look elsewhere.

It still always comes down to the particular team and the particular coach.

FCV has gone off the rails. They are so paranoid about every club. We are dealing with a FCV midfielder u13 parent with a major chip on their shoulder.

Can we stop with the Alexandria sales pitches. Don’t you guys have better things to do.

So saying anything positive about any club other than yours is a sales pitch. Got it. First I'm Mr Barca. Now I'm Mr Alexandria. Got it.

Easy there FCV coach. There are other clubs out there that do a nice job. FCV isn't an option for everyone.

Well you are certainly losing fields to Barca. Enjoy Springfield.
