I would assume some kind of special need is in play. If not, it’s LAZY! It’s a threes room, not a twos room. I would be embarrassed to send my child in pajamas because I feel like I would be broadcasting that my child is in charge and I cannot control him.

Not really. You sound lazy. If kids shower at night, they are clean and should put on clean underwear. Before you go to school, yes, clean underwear. You only have 10 pair of underwear? Wierd.

First thing, perhaps something is not right at home
On the other hand, if he has some sensory issues, then it is not bad parenting. Kid just cannot bear the stress of wearing something that doesn't feel right

My boys changed from pajamas to school clothes daily.
I have a 2yo who likes to wear pajamas out of the house. Depending on where we are going, I let her. I put her to sleep in leggings now that she will wear to school the next day or else it would be a huge battle in the morning.
She has a full closet of dresses. She likes pajamas.

My DD puts on clean underwear at night and wears it the next day. She spent about a year putting on her next day clothes (usually cotton shorts/leggings and dress) at night and sleeping in them instead of PJs. It was her idea and we decided not to pick that battle one night, but it turned out to solve lots of bedtime and morning challenges. Now she wears a uniform and it’s not comfy for sleeping in, sadly. And it’s been hard to get her to start sleeping in PJs again.

I teach 3 year olds. You know what drives me crazy?
Parents that let their kids wear fashion boots that make those kids trip and fall on the playground.
Parents that have their kids wear lace up shoes that come untied constantly.
Parents that put their kids in fancy clothes that their kids are petrified of getting dirty.
Parents that judge other parents for silly things like this.
Pajamas are fine in my classroom. They’re still clothes. It’s okay.
