Please don’t listen to the posters warning you that a long term teen relationship is unhealthy. Each relationship is unique and it sounds like you, the boy’s parents, and both the teens have done a lovely job nurturing healthy and honest relationship habits. I had multiple boyfriends in high school. One for over a year. Didn’t have sex with any of them. Only 50% of seniors have had sex. This generation is not as slutty as previous ones.


Same. I talk to my teens about how many sexual things you can do that are not intercourse.

No. My niece was on depo from time she was 16, until she was married and wanted a baby at 25. She got pregnant right away. I can’t speak for 30s/40s.

My DD (14) started a low dose BCP for acne but wasn't able to tolerate it. She had significant nausea that didn't resolve after a week. It was so bad she missed 3 days of school. i was surprised because I had absolutely no negative side effects the 20 years I was on BCPs - although I did get pregnant while on BCPs after the birth of DD. I was 40 and still BFing her.

Your OB may have a differing opinion but the AAP and ACOG recommend both IUDs and implants. I have found that some OBGYNs are a little behind the current practices regarding IUDs and nulliparous women
