So much going on in the world and you spend time being irritated about terms of endearment not directed at yourself or your own children. Ain't nobody got time for that.

HUBBY!!! Ugh I just dry heaved! That word makes my skin crawl

Me too!! But the worst is when a woman calls her husband Babe.

Yes!

I will forever associate that with one of the best, but most cringeworthy episodes of The Office, when Michael and Jan host the uncomfortable dinner party.

And yes, he is technically a little man. Sorry.

Wrong.

man
/man/
noun
1.
an adult human male

So a “little man” would mean an adult male of small stature.

Also, it’s not an “offense”, but merely a mild irritation.

-OP

Ok. Now the definition of little and then put them together.

lit·tle
/?lidl/
Learn to pronounce
adjective
small in size, amount, or degree

I stand by the bolded

-op

I like you, OP. I hate little man, littles, and kiddos. Also mama and papa. Yes I'm judgemental and should not care so much, but I find the terms really grating.

NP here - What terms of endearment do you use for your kids?

Admittedly, we swap between bathroom and potty still. DS is 7 and it is just habit to refer to the bathroom as the potty for him.

I have an American friend who refers to herself as “mum.”

Also hate little lady, princess, etc. It all just sounds too cutesy and precious, and conjures strict gender stereotypes.

I call my 7 year old little man or little dude. I'll start carrying barf bags just in case I run into you.
