Anson dorrance has interviews where he explains that in the past he has recruited this type of players to UNC. They drop to the bottom of the roster, but still on the team.

Is your kid an Olympic level sprinter who plays soccer for fun? Yes? Then maybe she has a slim chance of being
recruited from rec soccer to UVA. This is what we're talking about.
