That's a link to CUPF, not to MCPS. CUPF collects those fees and gives a small percentage of that money, if there is any, to MCPS.

Now go find the line item in the budget that shows how much of those imaginary rental fees were ever actually collected. It's $40,000, not $4 million.

That’s on MOCO County Council. Just like when you pay Federal Taxes. The Treasury (IRS) collects the money and Congress distributes to the various agencies.

And where did you get the $40K number from? Let’s pretend your number is correct, then isn’t the $2.4M that MSI gave to MoCo huge awesome amount?

No, it is not a huge awesome amount. It is a huge liability. The money only paid to install the artificial turf fields. It does not pay for maintenance, removal or replacement.

Again, see the WJ, RM, Wootton high school artificial turf fields. Installed and then abandoned. Those fields must be maintained, removed and replaced out of the MCPS Operating Budget because the whole fantasy artificial turf plan failed. Rentals did not materialize, rental income did not fund maintenance, removal or replacement.

Creating a liability for the MCPS Operating Budget is not awesome. It is a continual drain of education funds to an artificial turf field when that money could be used to pay for teachers or give teachers raises. MSI Soccer is making a choice for how the MCPS Operating Budget will be used. They want money to maintain, clean, remove and replace their field surface, classrooms be damned.

I work in the athletic field biz. Prior poster is correct. Synthetic turf fields are marketed by the installers as no maintenance. This is not true. In general
synthetic turf fields come with higher costs than natural grass fields. Synthetic turf fields have to be irrigated on hot days to cool the fields down enough to allow for play.
Synthetic turf fields have to be regularly groomed to fluff up the infill to prevent hard zones that injure your children. Synthetic turf fields have
to be cleaned regularly to get rid of debris. We sell a magnetic boom that is towed around the field to pick up metal on the field: hair pins, nails,
etc. The older fields that have infill made from ground up radial tires have a lot of metal in the infill. The synthetic turf fields have to be disinfected
on a regular schedule to prevent MRSA. Synthetic turf fields have to be regularly inspected and sewn to fix repairs. My company regularly charges
$40,000 to remove paint that vandals have applied to synthetic turf fields. Life span of synthetic turf fields is 10 years. Many look rough at the
7 year point. It is not that easy to find another $1 million dollars to replace a synthetic turf field.

Finally natural grass fields are way more eco friendly. Paying a grounds guy to mow and fertilize is small change compared to the upkeep of
synthetic turf fields.

I work as a polygraph analysts as a consultant to the KGB, CIA and NSA. My job is to find out when people lie. My spider sense goes off each and every time a Rose Hill resident posts a comment.

It's clear that ^PP copy/pasted from somewhere because of the formatting issues. I've had those issues, too, when copy/pasting something onto here. The least that ^PP could've done is fix the formatting. Shoddy work.

Wow. This showed how dumb and crazy the folks at Rose Hill are. They not only tried to stop the construction of Julius West but also tried to stop Einstein turf field as well. I’m truly surprised by the Rose Hill people’s lack of understanding of how local governments work, lack of common sense and preparation of the legal challenge of MCPS. They had a lawyer too.

MSI Soccer is certainly showing what hateful people they are. You would think when they have been piling up millions of dollars from their players and probably have millions more hidden away that they would be a little more adult in their online trolling. Is soccer really such a hateful game that this is the mentality of the adults that run these leagues?

Gosh you’re stupid. RM, Wootton & WJ are exclusively leased by Bethesda Soccer Club (BSC) for years. This led to MSI suing MCPS years ago before the settlement agreement. MSI has nothing to do with these fields. If you like Rockville and it’s businesses, you should support MSI. Their HQ is in Rockville while BSC and Potomac Soccer is in Gaithersburg.

First of all, I didn’t post that. I called you stupid because you claim that “RM, Wootton are in Rockville, which means that Rockville also had to deal with MSI on the deals with those two schools”.

No sh1t. But that PP stated that The epicenter of the problem is in Rockville, yet somehow, they got the fields in RM and Wootton. If the problem is Rockville, how did they manage two other fields?

Comprehension issues?

No. Rockville didn’t deal with MSI at the RM/Wootton fields. Rockville dealt with BSC. MSI doesn’t have a rental agreement to use RM or Wootton, only BSC does. But I agree that it’s not Rockville or MCPS that’s the problem. It’s the crazy Rose Hill people.

Looks like these idiots in Rockville are digging their heels in LOL. It's only a matter of time that MSI will be playing JWMS...probably next spring at this point. There is a hearing scheduled to discuss all the issues surrounding the fields on October 7. https://www.rockvillemd.gov/1306/Public-Hearing-Notices Take a look at the announcement. Maybe we should consider converging on this forum to voice our opinions about how stupid their government and residents are. I mean, does anyone over there know how to proofread something before you post it? Laziness and mediocrity -- I guess to be expected of a cesspool of a government.

These government officials and residents are not too bright either. Have you ever attended any of these meetings? I took a look at some of the video footage of the community forums and it is amazing how many clowns come out of the woodwork over there to voice their opinions. It is really comical to watch!

Bottom line, there will be back and forth, MSI will get their fields, and Rose Hill residents will have to find something else to occupy their time.

Rockville City Council have no choice than to approve the permit. Behind closed doors, MCPS will tell Rockville Council members to approve it as MCPS doesn’t have $2.4M to give back to MSI if the field isn’t approved. MCPS will loose the lawsuit if it breaches the settlement agreement/contact.

You are the one that lives in Rose Hill so you’re the one that have to live next to the turf field and with the consequences. I live in the serene wooded Potomac. So sorry! People in Potomac have much more money and influence in the County than you Rockville folks. Why do you think the turf field is in Rockville instead of Potomac? Too bad, so sad.
