Sorry your kid didn’t get in.
Didn’t apply. Not a VA resident. He got into one of the top 10 though.

UT-Austin and UW-Madison seem really undervalued. William and Mary is just an odd fit. Never thought I’d see the day Wake Forest overtook UVA. No serious person thinks Wake Forest is a better school than UVA. George Mason is still up and coming very very slowly.

I don’t care what you believe lol. Read it and weep.
Pretty petty of you then. Why do you care about a school your kid didn't even apply to?
I don’t. But I do like to see what the UVA braggers have to say about the drop. Just a grating group of folks who just might shut up for a change.
It’s a pretty insignificant drop. If you’re that invested in crowing about this ... what’s up with that? Were you hitting the refresh button every three seconds to check the ranking of a school you supposedly don’t care about? C’mon man.
NP here. When Michigan was below UVA by 2-3 places people made it out to be a huge gap. Now that it’s flipped it’s suddenly insignificant?
Anonymous wrote:Hi guys serious question. Why is George Washington in DC so low. It has fallen to 70 from 63 and 50s before. Are you seriously going to tell me that Florida State is a better school?
It is usually compared to Boston University, Tulane, NYU, Wake, and similar which are 27 to 40.
My kid is being recruited for a sport and this is concerning. Other surveys have it 60s as well.

UVA and W&M really dropped. Big change in just one year.
Meh. I wouldn't call UVA's drop to 28th from 25th as big. There are nine schools (counting ties) ranked between 25th and 29th. The overall score for the 25th ranked is 75 and for the 29th it's 72. Pretty negligible difference.
William and Mary on the other hand is now at 40th, a new low for them. Then there's Maryland, at 64th. Not THAT's the embarrassing ranking.

No Offense but I would consider those 4 schools better than George Washington. Maybe I'm just younger.

The scandal happened at the end of last cycle which means the effects is likely to hit this new cycle of applications.
The USnews uses the data from the past cycle which means it would take 2-3 years to see the actual effects of the scandal on the rankings.

Two colleges with impressive overall rankings scored especially poorly when it came to student perceptions of the value of their education.
Pitzer College in Claremont, Calif., which ranked No. 77 overall, tied for the fourth-lowest score on cost. Tied for the fifth-worst score was George Washington University, ranked No. 72 overall. Both are private colleges with tuition and fees that exceed $50,000."
USnews is weighing Pell students more these few years and if the school doesn't make the experience "worth it", high stats Pell students won't attend especially if it's something with GWU's price tag. It's also why you see alot of the UC's and state schools moving up to the 30's 40's.
