He's willing to gaslight you because you saw something on his phone. What does that tell you? You should do whatever you can to gather other evidence. Do his texts show up on an iPad or other device? Can you track his location? As others have said, expenses and schedules are the first place to look.

Now he’s on to you. I would do a 180 and fake apologize to him for snooping on his phone and say something like, “I know you’d never do something like that.” And then track EVERYTHING. He’s going to expect that you are pissed so be the opposite, it will allow you some time gather info.

What's done is done. I don't think anyone who recommended she ask him (including me) thought she would do so without first taking screenshots or forwarding the texts to her own phone. But she does know now that he is lying to her, and can decide where she goes from there.
He could come up with some excuse about it being a random attachment to a joke text that got saved. Cheaters tend to be good at lying and gaslighting.

Sigh. I understand. Very tempting to confront. She needs to look at the phone bill, contacts, apps, Apple ID if iphone (iMessages and FaceTime use data/WiFi so won't show up on bill). I dont think he would have a pic of some random middle aged woman unless he knew her, but it's possible, I suppose....
