If your young child stinks after one day, you should seriously look into food allergies. Not trying to be funny. If wiping properly, a young kid should not have a BO smell or if stinky private parts by evening.

I am elementary school teacher and believe me your child's teacher know who baths every day and who doesn't! Summer and vacations in general are one thing -- but if tomorrow is a school day -- PLEASE shower!

Part of this is cultural, dependent on the climate where your people are indigenous. My husband is from a tropical country, and they absolutely bathe every single day (before getting into a clean bed). Partly because, you know, you're going to sweat-- air conditioning is a recent invention (even now, most people don't have it at all).

A snag-- his skin (and my kid's) is prone to eczema, like almost everyone else's in his home country. It's not a huge problem THERE-- in fact, when we visit his parents, all our skin is AMAZING, without lotion(!), because it's so humid and wonderful. But here, it's a problem outside of summer.

So we do daily showers for the kid about 6 months a year, but compromise and do 4-5 showers/week during the colder months, alternating with quick "wipe-downs" with a cloth as long as she hasn't been doing serious physical activity. She's only 6, though.

As for people in Europe, one of the cultural reasons they bathe less is that it's not typically as hot and sweaty as most of the rest of the world.

In the scheme of things, whether a child bathes every day or not is no big deal and honestly shouldn't raise anyone's hackles if there are differences in approach. We are all likely good parents, whether we bathe our kids every day or not!

Note for those bathing after bug spray...a shower is best so it just flows off.

Skin is just fine! We have them use lotion after every bath or shower. And they smell clean! Your private parts stink after being in underwear all day. How can you not bathe your kids daily? Gross.

I know you’re trying really hard to shame the OP but you do realize it’s not normal or healthy for your private parts to stink at the end of one day? You’re doing something wrong. Try not wearing tight, synthetic fabric underwear or douching away your body’s natural ph balance. The only one in this particular chain who sounds gross is you.

No, we do every other day but they don’t use sunscreen and bug spray everyday. If they did then I would up it.

Yes, my kids are sticky. I don’t always use soap on their entire bodies in the winter but they play in the water. Ages 1 and 3.
