You know who loves it? The people in the lane that I am merging into. 8 times out of 10, they get behind me to help block the lane.
Late merging people who drive up to the end, throw on their signal and wait for someone to let them in are assholes. They are declaring that their time is more important than anyone else's.
If you were in a 10 person line at Starbucks and somebody walked right up beside the line and jumped in between person 1 and 2 would you put up with it? Never. It's exactly the same thing.
You should be making coffee at home if you can't wait for the line jumpers.

It IS! Just about a hundred yards back. "But Zipper Merge!" is not an excuse for last-minute, cut over the white line assholes.

No, if everyone let everyone else in at this particular exit, we'd never get to work. The one thing no one has mentioned is how much faster the traffic goes when the Park Police are there giving tickets. If everyone merged in to the right line just after the airport (like they're supposed to), we'd all be much happier.

+1 it's illegal and is a $100 ticket. in DC only suckers let those assholes in. I NEVER let them in. and I love seeing the cops pop out of the bushes where this happens on rock creek and nail them.
+1. I refused to let a woman merge in front of me over the white line, and she cut behind me and proceeded to tailgate and honk and wave and yell at me -- right up until the moment that the Park Policeman waved her over and gave her a ticket. A very satisfying experience.
