Homeschool is probably easier.
Why so nasty? What's wrong with you???
My kid will do the assignment but the assignment is dumb and meant for kids who are not readers (to have them keep with with reading just a little bit). Also the book selection is staggeringly depressing (even our ES teachers were shocked!) . It's summer, people!

Why are we arguing this? I JUST calculated my child's homework grade at Deal. The zeros counted as zeros.
End of story.
I can do the math. I am not an idiot.
Again, STOP MAKING SH$%^T up if you do not have proof.
ASPEN calculates the grades enters by conversion, refer to DCPS! Students do not get a number grade on final report card they get a letter, the final grades are calculated by the system, find out what the lowest grade DCPS (ASPEN/The system), whatever you want to call it does the calculation. This is not unique to DCPS, happens in other local and national systems too. Plenty of debates and discussions on the topic online, teachers have little control over the final grading and computation, which is what is finally reported.

Grading
Students will receive a zero for missing assignments
Students will have 10 (ten) school days, from the date the assignment was posted in Aspen, to make up a missing assignment
They can enter a zero and will but it does not compute as a zero, really how difficult is this parents. Just like teachers don't compute the final grade, grades translate to letter grades do they not on the report card so you what folks are trying to tell you is that zero does not compute to an F, check out the grading policy of DCPS, there were articles about this also in the Washington Post.![]()

Read the handbook, Deal follows the DCPS grading policy! Teacher can enter a zero but it doesn't count as a zero, it's 50+ can't remember exactly but you can call DCPS if don't believe me or PPs
this changed a year and a half ago after the grading scandal
Dear parents listen and learn, zeros do not count as zero in the grade book even if a teacher enters it. Instead of arguing on here about Deal's unique status, even their own handbooks states they follow DCPS grading, sorry but Deal is not above the law re. IB Grading, whatever nonsense that is/was! Ask current and former teachers, Deal is IB lite, and follows DCPS because it is a DCPS public school. I could say more about Deal grading, but I won't...
