How about we base the movie on the actors performance and quality of movie? Personally, I loved the Little Mermaid when I was a kid and I like the fact that they are changing it up.

I hope that one day we stop seeing each other as a black, or white, or hispanic, or asian, or whatever you may be, and start seeing each other as what we are..human. No matter what you believe or where you come from, we all came from the same place originally and we should treat each other as the family members that we are.

Captain Marvel was originally a white woman, just like portrayed in the movie. BUT! The second Captain Marvel was Monica Rambeaux, who is probably the daughter of Carol’s best friend in the movie. So she might pick up the name in a sequel.

I’d just like to add there was no outrage when Captain Marvel was casted as a white woman when she was originally a black woman but, I guess keeping things classic didnt matter in that situation

Agreed but I wonder if this is Disney’s way of making up for doing Tiana so terribly. She spends most of the movie as a frog and had the least interesting personality compared to any of the Disney Princesses in the last 30 years. We kept the movie in rotation because we are an African American family, but Disney really phoned it in when it came to The Princess and the Frog.

I loved the Princess and the Frog! Yes, it was not nice that she was a frog for most of the movie, but I liked her personality more than most of the Disney Princesses. I thought it was a sweet love story and a lovely movie.

We watch Halle in “Grownish” and love her. She is beautiful and a lovely singer also. She and her sister sing the theme song for the show, and I always get the tune stuck in my head for a day or so after hearing it.

If they are going to do live action for every princess movie, this was likely the only candidate for easy color blind casting.
I don’t care. The girl is stupid pretty and looks like a Disney princess. Her coloring can handle red hair.

I think the Halle mixup has helped some people ease into the idea. Halle Berry is gorgeous but too old. Oh, Halle Bailey? She's not too old.

I really liked the new Aladdin and found it to be a really well done and entertaining. I’m meh about the new Lion King though because there is literally not enough color! The backdrop and characters (understandably given the setting) all seem to be shades of tan/brown and missing the rich colors from the animation. I’m sure I’ll end up seeing it, but not optimistic this will translate well to live action.

Anyway Halle seems lovely and I’m sure she’ll do a great job as Ariel.
