Male circumcision is a totally different ball game.


Until it isn't, as a PP observed. Unnecessary surgery on a highly sensitive body part sometimes goes awry, with devastating consequences. Hemorrhage and even damage requiring gender reassignment surgery.

We have 4 sons, all circumcised. DH is also and wanted them to be as well, so we did it.

My husband is circumcised and my son isn't. It was a difficult decision. Our pediatrician at the time recommended circumcision and our pediatrician now is also in favor of it. However, the pediatrician at the hospital was against it.

Yes. There is no deciding. Parents decide when the child is a baby. That is the way it works.

Did you or someone you know do it as an adult, and therefore you know what you’re talking about? This was happening when I lived in east Africa a few years ago. I don’t know if it still is. Men found it important if the population had a high HIV rate. Last I read, the DC area did not have a 20%+ HIV rate.

My 11 year old twins are not circumcised. After reading about the procedure and recovery on newborn infants, I just couldn’t do it. DH is not circumcised, either, but left the decision up to me.
