Alice was in the top 50 names in the US from the 1800s until 1950s, in 2002 it was as low as 444th, but has risen since then to 70th most popular name.

I'm a middle school teacher and I have taught oodles of Alices in the past 5 years. Not so many Alisons among my students, though quite a few among my 50-something friends. Alice is lovely, but I have a soft spot in my heart for Alison because it's so popular in Britain, where my mum grew up. OP, you could get the Alison comeback going!
