This is my guess. I don’t think they were meaning to be rude or greedy. But I also agree if you aren’t accepting gifts from guests, you shouldn’t be sending them home with favors. No gifts goes along with saying, you already have a lot of stuff and don’t want more stuff...so don’t turn around and give people stuff

Hmmmm....I know plenty of people with kids who are pretty greedy. It's usually my friends without kids who are shocked at how selfish parents behave.

DD's party is next month and I'm trying to see how many books I should get. We're having a house party and siblings are coming. I'm going to stand my ground and state that the books are for the kids. But which kids? Just the kids her age? What about the older siblings? Or maybe one book per family?
One book per family and put each family/child's name on them. Hoarding books to regift is rude.
