Yes. My grandmother had an oops baby (healthy) at 47. I think in pre birth control days it wasn’t unusual for women to have their last kid in their 40s.

That being said it was not possible for me to have one naturally at that age.

Good question! Only women I knew who didn't have a period until their early/mid-twenties were severely anorexic. Pro tip: longterm anorexia is not great for fertility.

It’s not that rare. Menopause babies are not uncommon in women who have already had babies. A friend was the ninth baby and born shorty after her mother’s 50th birthday in 1970.


I think we also don't know what the rates are because not everyone who becomes pregnant has these babies. My mom mentioned once she knew several friends/neighbors who got pregnant mid-late 40s, but terminated because they didn't want a baby after they were long done with that stage of life with kids in their 20s.

So sick of the "anyone who had a baby after 35 most likely had fertility treatments and just didn't tell you because you never REALLY know" attitude by some people on DCUM. It's really sad and pathetic, honestly.


P.S. To the PP I was responding to, if you're someone who needed treatments and is hiding it from your close friends because you think it's some dirty shameful secret (and therefore you think that because you're doing it then it's somehow normal or common) then you should honestly get some therapy. Carrying around all that shame can't be good for you, especially for something that you don't even need to be ashamed about!

My best friend in college was her mom’s first naturally at 44. She had married late. Her brother was born when her mom was 46! Both parents lived until she was in her 40s.
