I do. I look at it as giving the Ds some impetus. And most Rs who live in DC would be centrists or Ds anywhere else. The Ds in DC Politics would mostly be FAR Left anywhere else.

Policing here in DC is hampered by lack of political will to actually prosecute criminals. Repeat offenders back on the streets after committing crimes.
If you want people on council/mayor who actually care more about law-abiding citizens than criminals, you have to vote for them.

100% agree. Do you have any candidate to suggest? I am hoping there are more than 2 of us. Happy to back anyone with an alternative viewpoint to the current by and large disappointing Council and Mayor.
Wish I could say I did. Still waiting for a unicorn to arrive...
If you run, I'd contribute. Our politicians take DC residents absolutely for granted. And then go about their business with cronies. Awful.
Well thanks! Don't think I will but happy to contribute to anyone who plans to actually do something about crime. Why so many highly educated voters here have such low expectations of our Council/mayor when it comes to protecting the public (kids, no less) is beyond me.
Anonymous wrote:To add to the above: You say you vote for anyone with an R and research independents. So you don't research who you're voting for as long as they have an R? That's obnoxious and dangerous and exactly what you're preaching against with DC always voting D.
Anonymous wrote:What I've started to do is vote for anyone with an R next to their name, followed by an Independent (they can be dicey though, so I do more research there). If a D like Tony William's were ever to show up again they would get my full support, but that's been my strategy to date. I think if a R ever won it would send such a message. I fully realize that's the mentality that got Trump elected, but I also think municipal and federal politics are different and the idea that DC can only be and air democratic party voices is obnoxious and dangerous in it's own right. And yes, I would hold an R accountable.

Anonymous wrote:Council is doing everything possible to undermine and underfund polic. Especially nadeau. Columbia Heights has had shootings in the middle day 9 times in the last 6 weeks. Tubman elem has gone on lock down because of bullets flying outside. Nadeau opens her meeting a with “I know you are all scared of police so I’m just letting you know they will be here but will stand in one place in the room” wtf. Then she says we don’t need police but “violence disrupters”- council got rid of Vice squads over the objection of police. Community meetings do NOTHING to stop violence. Nothing.
. Sadly, this is pretty much anyone running with a "D" by their name in DC. I wish the same people victimized by their policies could see how little they actually do for the "community"
