My youngest got croup in Colorado at 11mo and it was terrifying sitting in the steamy shower with him in the middle of the night as he struggled to breathe, knowing we were 15 min from the hospital. We are waiting until he’s 3 to go again. But I don’t mind if my husband goes without me for 4-5 days.

OP you are in for a rough ride if he is already this selfish. He is going to be HATING life when he realizes how a baby cramps his style and you become the no-longer-fun nag, trying to get him to adult.

PP ignore these people. 36 weeks is pretty late to plan a vacation. It's totally possible that you could give birth between 36-37 weeks. I had my first at 35 weeks.

I gave birth before 36 weeks. I am pregnant again and my husband is opting out of going to a conference at 34 weeks. I would have him go earlier.

We went when DS was 8 months. We went to Colorado, and kid had issues with altitude at night but I'd go again in a hearbeat to ski at a lower attitude.

At 7 months pregnant, I'd let him go without any concerns. If the pregnancy was fine, and the place wasn't too far from a good hospital, I'd probably tag along too and go on walks.

Being a father doesn't mean you stop being a person with interests, hobbies, and activities you enjoy. It doesn't mean you stop being a friend or son or brother. It doesn't mean you stop having individual wants and needs.

It isn't like the only way to be a father (or mother) is to sacrifice all other aspects of yourself

I think many people do things - one last time - before the first child comes as they don't yet know what that life will look like and there is some trepidation that they will they will be able to do the things they enjoy or that life will become all about the baby.

It really depends on your mindset. I know people whose lives have barely skipped a beat and they continue to enjoy most of the same activities but with kids or in a kid version way and I know other people who haven't done anything for themselves or for fun for years and have given up hobbies and interests. Personally, I think the first is much healthier and continue to do what you enjoy makes you a better parent and it is good for the kids to see their parents as people with interests and hobbies.

DH and I used to ski regularly and I haven’t been since my 2 year old (almost 3) was born and DH has gone once. Let him go.

So selfish of your DH. Is he not happy about being a father?

Go to a place that has a great spa too. He goes skiing and you get massages and beauty treatments.
