No he isn't perfect, but he is pretty good.

This is a good bar to set: "Clean and ready for me to start cooking." Thank you. My kids are OK, not great, but I think this is the standard I will work on with them through the summer.

I wish. Constant struggle. DH does it while huffing and puffing, but I usually make the kids do it. It just takes about 3 reminders each time. 2 girls -- 15 and 13.

Ours are 13 and 16 - it's one of their chores to keep the dishwasher running. No rinse, just scrape.

They put their dishes in the dishwasher and have since they were out of high chairs. It's automatic now.

Once they're tall enough to reach the upper cabinets, they take turns putting clean dishes away. This takes a TON of nagging, but I will not be defeated!

What on earth? Teens who can’t load a dishwasher?

I have two boys 9 and 11—they set the table, then clean up their dishes and load them into the dishwasher, they then wipe down the table and chairs where they sat. They have been doing this for 4-5 years. Our dishwasher broke this week and I walked the dog after dinner, when I got back all the dishes and cooking pots were washed, dried, and put away.

Mine seem to think that its my 'hobby' to clean up after them. Since I work so hard all day, who are they to deny me a relaxing evening of dishes, cooking and laundry then just before bed, more dishes. They are so considerate.

If only you could have raised them differently.
